Last year, we celebrated our 20 year milestone of serving this community. It was a moment to look back with gratitude and pride. This year, as we turn 21, the number may not carry the same ceremonial weight, but in many ways, it matters just as much. Because 21 is about coming of age.
At 21, you’re no longer just building a foundation, you’re expected to stand on it. You make decisions with greater confidence, take on more responsibility, and step forward with a clearer sense of who you are. That’s where we find ourselves as a bank. Over the past two decades, we’ve worked hard to earn your trust, build a strong financial footing, and assemble a team that cares deeply about this community. Now, we’re focused on what comes next: continuing to grow, adapt, and serve you even better.
Recently, I was asked on stage at our national banking conference how we develop our people. My answer was simple: “We promote them before they are fully ready”. That might sound counterintuitive in an industry that prizes caution, but it reflects something fundamental about our culture. We believe in our people. We give them the opportunity to stretch, to take ownership, and yes, sometimes to learn the hard way, because that’s how real growth happens.
Turning 21 means embracing that mindset more fully than ever. It means continuing to invest in people who are eager to serve, willing to learn, and committed to doing right by our customers. It means not becoming complacent, even after 20 successful years. And it means remembering that our success has always been tied to the success of the individuals, families, and businesses we serve.
So while 21 may not come with as much fanfare, it represents something we value even more: maturity, confidence, and a readiness for the opportunities ahead. Thank you for being part of our journey and for trusting us to be part of yours.
Sincerely,
Clinton Gerst
